A Storm 5 Alert has been issued for Friday afternoon and evening due to the threat of strong to severe storms.

Storms are expected to begin moving into areas west of Nashville – including Paris, Clarksville, and Hopkinsville – during the afternoon hours.

Most of the severe weather could extend along the Tennessee-Kentucky border, but storms could pop up in the Nashville area this evening.

The main threats would be damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes - with flash flooding also possible.

Those participating in the St. Jude Rock “n” Roll Marathon can expect muggy conditions with a few showers possible:

  • 6:45 a.m. - 70°
  • 9 a.m. - Muggy 76°
  • 11 a.m. - Sun/Clouds 81°

Another cold front is expected to sweep through the area Sunday night.
