Storms cause flooding, prompt water rescue

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Strong storms caused flooding in several areas of the mid-state Sunday afternoon and evening.

Many roads in Rutherford County were flooded. The following roads were blocked:

  • Shoemaker Road
  • East County Farm Road
  • Stones River Road at the slab (concrete bridge)
  • Sulphur Springs Road at Buckeye Valley Road and Shacklett Road
  • Elam Mill Road
  • Kedron Church Road at Rocky Fork Road
  • Mt. Vernon Road at state Route 99 (New Salem Highway)

And parts of Murfreesboro experienced power outages. All of the South Church Street, Middle Tennessee Boulevard, Main Street, Mecury and Minerva lost power.

The following roads in Williamson County were also flooded:

Floyd Road / Old Hillsboro Road
Patton Road / Cox Road
Blazer Road / Boyd Mill Pike
Southall Road / Old Hillsboro Road
Duplex Road / Commonwealth Dr
Port Royal Road / Longhunter Chase Drive

The Dickson Water Rescue Team conducted a successful water rescue at Tidwell Road and South Tidwell Road.
