NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — An 18-year-old McGavock High School student, wanted in connection to auto thefts, was arrested after police say he had a loaded gun on campus.

Metro Nashville Police officials say Sodonnie Bufford, a junior at the school, was seen pulling into the school parking lot Thursday in a stolen 2018 Toyota Highlander.

He got out of the SUV and allegedly placed the gun into the trunk of another car. Officers received consent to search that vehicle and recovered the nine millimeter pistol, which had also been reported stolen.

Bufford was also charged with two other vehicle thefts. The first occurred on Saturday when the victim left his 2009 Infinity with the keys in the ignition and unlocked outside Mapco at 765 Bell Road.

The second vehicle, a 2011 GMC Denali, was taken on Tuesday after the SUV was left running and unattended outside Mapco at 1101 Bell Road.

Bufford is jailed in lieu of $25,000 bond.
