Some Middle Tennessee high school students shined a light on someone close to their hearts at the CMA Awards.

Students from Christ Presbyterian Academy in Nashville took the stage along side Tim McGraw Thursday night to honor a former teacher Ben Ellis.

A video of the student body singing a worship song outside of his bedroom window went viral last month. Ellis was in the last days of his battle with cancer.

The touching video has been viewed more than 17 million times, and initially got major exposure when it was shared by Tim McGraw on his Facebook page.

During his performance at the country music award show, the students silently held candles during his performance of "Humble and Kind" in memory of Mr. Ellis.
