Students across the country including some in Nashville were surprised to hear the Regency Beauty Institute was closing, leaving them out of $20,000 with nothing to show for it.
Regency Beauty Institute students received a text message that their school would be permanently shutting its doors, the same day the message was sent out.
Portia Tillman was supposed to graduate in just two days, but now that wont happen.
"It was very disrespectful because I take my career seriously. I just need answers," said Tillman.
A message was posted to the Regency website saying the school had been permanently closed.
It went on to say, "We recognize that some of you may be finding this out for the first time by reading this."
Students did not taking the news lightly.
"You sent this text message out at 8 or 9 o'clock at night. They have to be to school at 9 o'clock in the morning, you give them 12 hours to prepare. What about people who have kids and go to bed early, then what," said Nanette White, Regency Beauty Institute Graduate.
According to Regency Beauty Institute, the organization does not have the cash to continue to keep its doors open, leaving students are left to pick up the pieces and move on.
Students were given until Friday to pick up their belongings and are hoping to have some answers by then.
