MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – A substitute teacher in Rutherford County has been accused of not reporting a case of alleged child sex abuse.

According to WGNS News Radio, the incident stems from a 13-year-old girl spending the night at the home of Virginia McCord, her substitute teacher, in Murfreesboro.

McCord's husband, Craig, is a register sex offender and has been accused of touching the child inappropriately.

The child later reported it to her grandparents.

Police have arrested Craig McCord on charges of sexual battery. Virginia McCord, a substitute teacher, was arrested for failure to report the alleged abuse.

The little girl reportedly told her it happened, but she did not call police.

The case remains under investigation.
