Suicide Attempt On Bridge Creates Traffic Backup

Traffic was backed up for miles on Interstate 65 because of a person threatening to jump from a bridge over Vietnam Veterans Boulevard.

It happened around 5:20 p.m. Sunday. First responders closed Vietnam Vets in order to talk the person down from the bridge.

Exit 95 was closed so that traffic would not drive underneath or through the area.
A witness who saw it happening took action to help.

“We got to thinking, he's in a hopeless situation right now and Jesus is our hope, so we made him this sign to let him know that Jesus still loves him and he didn't need to do this.”

Officials said the man came down peacefully.
