Summer 2016 officially began at 5:34 Monday afternoon. While many of you were excited about the hot season arriving it also meant the days will start getting shorter.

The summer solstice occurs when the sun is at its highest point in the northern hemisphere which occurs in North America in June.

After that time the earth will gradually begin it`s shift so that by winter the sun angle is lowest for North America causing winter while it`s at its highest in South America causing summer.
