GALLATIN, Tenn. (WTVF) — Mayor Anthony Holt extended Sumner County's mask mandate until Dec. 29, by extending Executive Order No. 63.

In a press release, Holt said he made the decision after continued "discussions with local hospital administrators,health professionals and our local health department."
He said "it is in the best interest for the safety of our citizens to extend the Executive Order to wear face coverings in public places..."
All residents are required to wear a face-covering in public or when social distancing is not an option.
Mayor Holt also encouraged residents to continue using safe practices like regular handwashing, and social distancing when possible.
"My purpose is to take action now to protect the health and well-being of our citizens and to preserve our economy," Holt said.
The mandate will go into effect at midnight Oct. 30 and remain until 11:59 p.m. Dec. 29.
