Police arrested the man they believe injured an elderly woman when he stole her purse from her.
Gilbert Dean Ostring, age 48, was arrested in Scottsboro, Alabama by Scottsboro Police. He was charged with theft of property.
The 70-year-old was leaving a Bible study on May 1 when Ostring approached her in the parking lot of Lebanon Road Church of Christ and asked about the location of any nearby shelters.
He then grabbed her purse and jerked it away from her as he sat in the driver's seat of his pickup truck, causing her to land hard on the pavement. Police said she suffered broken bones in her right hand, as well as facial injuries.
