An armed robbery suspect was taken into custody after attempting to flee from officers.
Officials said 54-year-old Felix Valdes walked into a Shell gas station at 1411 East 9th Street in Hopkinsville around 10:20 p.m. Monday.
Valdes reportedly pulled out a gun and demanded money from the clerk. After getting money from the store, witnesses said Valdes left the store in a vehicle.
Early Tuesday morning, officers from the Oak Grove Police Department found a car matching the description of the vehicle involved in the earlier armed robbery. Officers also saw a man matching the suspect’s description getting into the car.
Police were able to follow Valdes. They said he was driving toward an officer with emergency lights activated and suddenly stopped and put his vehicle in reverse to get away.
Patrol cars from the Hopkinsville Police Department and Christian County Sheriff’s Office were able to quickly box Valdes in and keep him from fleeing.
Valdes was arrested on charges of armed robbery and evading police.
