WAIPAHU, OAHU – The suspect accused of fatally shooting a 19-year-old at Hadley Park in Nashville has been arrested in Hawaii.

CBS affiliate KGMB reports that 19-year-old Brandon Horton was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals and the ICE Task Force Thursday evening. He was arrested at an apartment in Waipahu, located about 14 miles from Honolulu.

Horton was accused of killing Craig Lambert back on March 30. The shooting was initially thought to be accidental.

A witness told police he was petting a cat when he dropped as pistol. The reports alleged that he grabbed the gun, hit the trigger and caused the pistol to discharge.

Authorities said autopsy results and other evidence cast doubt on that original story, disproving the claim of an accidental shooting.

Nearly five months later, the incident was ruled a homicide.

KGMB reports Horton was a student at Tennessee State University at the time of the shooting and had relatives in Hawaii.
