The man accused of murdering a nurse inside her Nashville condo has pleaded not guilty in the case.

A video arraignment for Christopher McLawhorn was scheduled for Wednesday morning.

He’s been charged with first degree murder and burglary in the stabbing death of Tiffany Ferguson back in February.

Detectives said he was looking to burglarize homes and cars and found his way inside her unlocked apartment, when he was possibly startled by the 23-year-old nurse.

Police have also tacked on new theft charges against the 25-year-old suspect.

According to an affidavit, McLawhorn cut a hole through a fence at a Walmart gardening section just and stole $55 worth of beer.

McLawhorn could face life in prison if found guilty. A trial date has not yet been set. He's scheduled to be back in front of a judge on September 21.
