A suspect has been arrested after sustaining serious injuries while trying to break into a Wilson County restaurant.
Officials with the Lebanon Police Department said they got a call from the suspect’s father on Monday around 2:20 p.m.
He called dispatchers after his son, 26-year-old Nicholas Mitchell, called him to say he had severe cuts on his legs after breaking a window to rob Painturos Pizza.
Police responded to 522 West Main Street and found the front window broken. Mitchell was bleeding on the floor.
The suspect was taken into custody and transported to Tennova Healthcare (formerly University Medical Center) in Lebanon.
Investigators found a hammer and two bank bags at the scene containing a small amount of cash. It was not clear how he cut himself on the glass.
Mitchell was charged with burglary, theft and vandalism. He was expected to be booked into the Wilson County Jail after being treated for his injuries.
