NASHVILLE, Tenn.- One person was killed and another left in critical condition after a shooting in Antioch.

Officers on the scene said the incident happened at The Express Market off of Antioch Pike and Blue Hole Road around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Three suspects entered the store, according to reports, and as one suspect attempted to crawl under the counter, another suspect's gun accidentally went off, killing the suspect under the counter.

The deceased suspect was identified by police as 20-year-old Damontay L. Thomas. Officers said his semi-automatic pistol was underneath him when they arrived.

Two of the suspects then allegedly grabbed the store clerk, identified as 42-year-old Sameer Alazab, and dragged him through the store. Police said Alazab fell and that's when one of the suspects shot him in the head.

The clerk was rushed to Vanderbilt Medical Center where police said he was listed in extremely critical condition.

Officials said the store owner was also inside the building but was not injured.

Remnants of the shooting were still visible in the morning as another store clerk tried to clean up what was left behind. A store regular said she's never been concerned for her safety in the past.

No suspects were taken into custody. Authorities said they do not believe the suspects were able to steal anything.

Anyone with information that could help police was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME (615-742-7463).
