A man has been in the Christian County Jail facing multiple charges after he allegedly led Hopkinsville police on a high-speed chase with a 7-month-old in the backseat.
Police said he refused to stop which started a chase that stretched from Glass Avenue to Heather Place.
On Saturday, Edward Jason Hair is accused of going off the road and crashing into a parked SUV.
Reginald Williams said his father was in the house when he saw police lights. He stepped outside to find his SUV pinned against the porch.
"I had to see it to believe it. It's kind of funny and sad at the same time because of the chances that this would happen to you and your family," Williams told NewsChannel 5.
Police said Hair grabbed his seven-month-old son and kicked in the back door of another house. The report stated that he handed the baby to the resident of the house who claimed to not know Hair.
The report further said that he also tried to hide baggies of cocaine in a trash can before he eventually surrendered.
"I just made some mistakes and I'm just here paying for my mistakes basically," Edward Jason Hair said.
Hair sat down with NewsChannel 5 and never admitted to what he has been accused of committing. However, he was disappointed that the resident would claim she does not know him.
"I hang out over there. They were just scared that they would get into trouble," Hair said. "They didn't want to be a part of that so they just removed themselves from the incident."
Although Hair dodged answering questions because his lawyer was not present, he still said he is regretful when being asked if and what he regrets.
"Yes I do, the whole day. I broke the law, I broke the law and I regret that," Hair said.
Hair was charged with Fleeing and Evading Police, DUI, Trafficking in Cocaine, DUI, 2nd Degree Burglary, and other charges.
