An SUV was found riddled with bullets near a school in Davidson County.

Officers with Metro Nashville Police responded to an area near Dupont Tyler Middle School, located on Tyler Drive in Hermitage, around 5:30 a.m. Friday.

Police were called to the scene after neighbors reported hearing gunshots.

There, they found a vehicle with a Cheatham County license plate that had several bullet holes in it. Multiple shell casings were found inside the SUV, and the side and back window were busted out.

It appeared the driver was doing donuts on the field behind the middle school's football stadium before someone fired multiple rounds into the SUV.

The driver was not located. Officers said the vehicle was not reported as stolen at this time.

Police said to their knowledge, no local hospitals have received any gunshot victims. As a result, they're calling the incident a vandalism investigation.
