SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — TBI is investigating the death of a Bedford County Workhouse inmate that occurred on December 31.
Juan Carlos Mendoza, 32, was found unresponsive in his cell on New Year's Eve. When Mendoza was first found, jail staff attempted CPR after which he was transported to the hospital. There, he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy is underway and the investigation is active and ongoing.
