LYLES, Tenn. (WTVF) — A 6-year-old girl has died following a fire in Hickman County. Her mother was severely burned.
The incident was reported overnight Monday on Wrigley Road, located in the Lyles community.
Officials confirmed that a family of five woke up around 1 a.m. to find the house on fire. Someone ran over to a neighbor's house and called 911.
When first responders arrived, the home was fully engulfed. They believe the blaze may have been caused by a wood-burning stove.
The mother suffered second and third degree burns and was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The step-father and two other children were not hurt.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation was called to the scene.
Sky 5 flew over the area and showed multiple agencies on scene. Wrigley Road was blocked throughout the morning while the investigation continued.
