CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WTVF) — Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) have been called in to investigate an officer-involved shooting in Bradley County.
Deputies with the Bradley County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of an unwanted, armed man at a home, which came in around midnight Saturday, the TBI said. While deputies were en route to the location of the call at the 2000 block of McDaris Circle, it was upgraded to a stabbing call.
When the deputies arrived, they found the man armed with a knife. Preliminary reports indicate the deputies tried to subdue him with a taser. When those attempts appeared to fail, one of the officers shot at the man, striking him.
The man - who has been identified as Manuel Charles Carter - was pronounced dead at the scene.
This remains an ongoing investigation.
