A man was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Maury County.
Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation were called to Mount Pleasant Tuesday night after an incident on South Main Street.
Investigators said they initially were trying to pull over man who was suspected of driving while under the influence. He was identified as 35-year-old Bradley Nelson.
Nelson reportedly did not stop and led officers on a brief pursuit, which ended at the intersection of Mount Joy Road and South Main Street.
Nelson then got out of his vehicle, at which point he allegedly pulled out a weapon and pointed it at officers.
The situation escalated and a responding officer fired a shot, hitting Nelson in the chest. He was taken to Maury Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
No officers were hurt during the incident.
The officer involved in the shooting has not been identified at this time.
The TBI would continue to investigate, and share its findings with the District Attorney General for further review and consideration.
