CARROLL COUNTY, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a man in connection with a homicide after asking for the public's assistance in identifying a vehicle on Saturday.
On Friday evening, authorities found the body of James Dale Kelly, 19, with an apparent gunshot wound, at a home in the 7000 block of Buena Vista Road.
The investigation led authorities to obtain an image of a silver vehicle from surveillance equipment near the scene. They were then able to determined the vehicle was in the immediate area during the time of the crime and may belong to the perpetrator or to a witness.
Tips from members of the community along with efforts by both agencies led to the arrest of 20-year-old Corey Leavitt Jr.
Leavitt has been charged with reckless homicide, and has been booked at the Carroll County Hail, where he is being held without bond.
