NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Tennessee Department of Transportation officials announced construction for Interstate 440 will begin in one month.
Officials described it as "heavy construction activity" beginning March 1.
You'll see it first west of I-65 between the Granny White Pike area and West End Avenue. By early spring, the entire corridor will be under construction, narrowing the interstate to two lanes in each direction during the day and one lane at night.
Merge lanes will be shortened; the roadside shoulders will be gone. It will be a 24-hour a day, six-day a week operation.
