4 Weekend Closures Set For Interstate 24 Bridge Project
According to TDOT, the work will require a complete closure of I-24 from the I-40 split east of downtown Nashville to the I-65 split north of downtown Nashville. During that time, traffic will be diverted onto I-65 and I-40.
Crews will be working at multiple locations along the corridor.
Officials said the project will require a minimum of four weekend I-24 closures:
- Friday, September 29 at 8 p.m. through Monday, October 2 at 6 a.m.
- Friday, October 6 at 8 p.m. through Monday, October 9 at 6 a.m.
- Friday, October 20 at 8 p.m. through Monday, October 23 at 6 a.m.
- Friday, October 27 at 8 p.m. through Monday, October 30 at 6 a.m.
This portion of Interstate 24, located on the eastern loop of downtown, will also be resurfaced as part of the project.
The project is set to use the innovative process of Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC).
ABC is known to speed up the construction and repair of highways and bridges by allowing short-term, total road or bridge closures.
