Teams Prepare For CWS

Omaha, NE - Only two national seeds managed to make it to the College World Series this year.  The tags of favorite and underdog are more blurred than ever.  The parity in college baseball is palpable.

Even an indepth look at the stats show that all 8 teams are more similar than they are different.  Six of the eight teams have a batting average between .272 and .287.  Seven of the eight teams have a team ERA under 2.78.  Seven of the eight teams have a fielding percentage over .971.

There are a few outliers.  Ole Miss is the only team with a batting average over .300.  And, they're the only team to hit more than 40 home runs.  Only two teams (Louisville and Vanderbilt) stole over 100 bases.  UC Irvine is the only team to rack up more than 25 saves.

The similarties on field make predicting outcomes perilous.  And it likely will produce some very tightly contested games on the field.
