MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Police in Memphis have been searching for a male who walked into a fitness center and fatally shot an 18-year-old.
The Commercial Appeal reported the person fled on foot from the Southeast Memphis fitness center Friday night after the shooting.
Witnesses and relatives at the scene told the newspaper a fight over a basketball game at the center had preceded the fight.
Police had not confirmed the identity of the victim Friday night. A crowd of approximately 30 to 40 of the victim's relatives gathered in a grassy area near the parking lot.
Pamela Poole-Terry, who identified herself as the victim's aunt, said the teen "was in some place where he paid for a membership and he got killed because he shot basketball well today."
