NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency has a new operations administrator.
Charles Shannon was recently named to the position by Maj. Gen. Max Haston, Tennessee's adjutant general.
Shannon will lead TEMA's operations division and its staff of 25 employees providing tactical support during emergencies statewide.
He will also oversee TEMA's 24-hour Watch Point and agency sections responsible for communications, logistics and special operations within the agency's Bureau of Response.
Shannon is retiring as an assistant chief of the Metro Nashville Fire Department after 36 years of service that included positions as director of the Mayor's Office of Emergency Management and roles as public information officer and Fire Department chaplain.
