Tennessee Bourbon Producers Worried About Tariff

Producers of bourbon in Tennessee are worried after the European Union recently imposed a tariff on some American products, including bourbon.

The 25 percent tariff was imposed after President Donald Trump put a 25 percent tariff on imported steel last week.

Bourbon producers in Tennessee said they’re concerned this will force them to lower prices domestically, and they’re also worried it could keep less of their products from being sold internationally.

In 2017, exports of spirits from the United States were valued at $1 billion. The tariff has been set to go into effect in July.
