JACKSON, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper was killed in a crash in Madison County.
THP officials say Trooper Matthew Gatti died in the crash Monday night.
According to WREG NewsChannel 3, Gatti's cruiser was hit by an 18-wheeler while responding to a call.
Gatti was a trooper of the Memphis THP district. THP officials said his death was a "heartbreaking loss."
"Our hearts are filled with much grief and sadness. The family of Trooper Gatti is in our deepest thoughts and prayers. Please keep Trooper Gatti, his family and friends in your hearts and prayers," THP said in a statement.
The crash is under investigation.
