Tennessee License Plate Promotes Suicide Prevention

Posted

A new license plate in Tennessee would highlight suicide prevention.

The Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network said Friday that they’re reserving orders for the official specialty license plate and just released the design of it.

In order to get the plate, TSPN must collect 1,000 order reservations.

Recent research from the CDC showed that since 1999 the suicide rate in the US grew by more than 25 percent. In 2016 alone, about 45,000 people died by suicide.

Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the country, according to the CDC.

Editor's note: If you're feeling suicidal or having suicidal thoughts, help is available. Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
