NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Main Street communities throughout Tennessee are gearing up for the summer.
Tennessee Main Street Programs will be hosting multiple events and farmers' markets over the next several months that will highlight the unique offerings of each community across the state.
Tennessee Main Street is a coordinating partner with the National Main Street Center. The program focuses on revitalizing downtown commercial districts by providing jobs and growing the tax base.
There are currently 28 designated Main Street communities across Tennessee.
Last year, those communities generated more than $95 million of public/private investment and created more than 1,500 new jobs.
