Tennessee program helping families pay for childcare

A new program is helping Tennessee families pay for child care and will also help out providers.

The Smart Steps Program – from the Department of Human Services – incentivizes child care providers by boosting their reimbursement.

It's for families who aren't able to afford proper child care. The department will also help those families pay for services.

Providers will be reimbursed 35 percent more per-week for infant and toddler care and 20 percent for pre-school and school-age care.

To break it down, that means $46 extra for every infant and 20 for a preschool child.

The program is expected to start in April. Click here for more information.
