NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee residents were treated to a special experience at the newly renovated Ryman Auditorium, free of charge.

It was Community Appreciation Day at the place known as the Mother Church of Country Music.

Complimentary self-guided tours were available.

All folks had to do was show their Tennessee state ID.

The self-guided tour also included admission to the new state-of-the-art theater experience, Soul of Nashville.

It was a look at the Ryman's fascinating history and legendary performances.

“You go in and see this immersive movie that shows you over 120 year of our history,” said Lisaann Dupont, of the Ryman Auditorium. “You get to see all of our history starting from the Tabernacle years through to the Opry through to current shows, so it’s a little bit of everything. It's really great.”

The special day also included performances on the plaza for everyone waiting in line.
