NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee State kicker Cameron Carter has been released from the hospital after telling police he was shot Thursday while driving in Nashville.
Tennessee State athletic department spokesperson Zekeya Anderson said Friday Carter was out of the hospital. The university issued a statement Thursday night saying Carter had been shot.
Carter told Nashville police he was driving Thursday at about 1:30 p.m. when he reached a dead end, tried to turn around and was cut off by a driver in a black Nissan Altima. Carter says when he tried to drive around the Altima, both drivers rolled down their windows and the driver of the Altima produced a handgun.
The police report states that Carter was treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after being struck in the left shoulder.
