PARIS, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Texas man was arrested after police officials say he disposed of a woman's body in the Kentucky Lake.
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation officials say the woman's body was found in a plastic container floating in the lake north of the Tennessee state line, Saturday night. The woman was later identified as Traci Leigh Jones of Arlington, Texas.
The Kentucky State Medical Examiner ruled her death as a homicide.
In a press release, TBI officials say Rogers used a rented boat in Paris to dispose of the body in the Kentucky Lake.
Texas Rangers arrested 60-year-old Jeffery Rogers, also of Arlington, Texas, Tuesday. Warrants were issued the day before charging him with one count of abuse of a corpse and one count of tampering with evidence. His bond is set at $1,000,000 and he awaits extradition to Tennessee. The homicide investigation remains active and ongoing.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Kentucky State Police, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Rangers all worked together on the case.
The investigation is ongoing.
