NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The playground has always been a staple summertime hangout for kids, and Friday, a community came together to put finishing touches on one the neighborhood designed themselves.

The Next Door Freedom Recovery Community partnered with Blue Cross Blue Shield, KaBOOM, and other volunteers to build their neighbors a new playground.

The Next Door has been providing affordable living for women and their families impacted by addiction.

Moms and kids even got to help design the playground to fit their own specific wishes and needs.

“It’s an amazing playground for our women and our families,” said Linda Leathers, The Next Door CEO. “Our women and our families are living in recovery, working on family unification, and they want to be active with their children. They want to be excellent parents, and this is going to help them do it.”

The group had a ribbon cutting ceremony after they finished up work on the playground Friday, and they were joined by some Titans players and even Mayor Karl Dean.
