THP investigating deadly crash on I-24 in Coffee County

MANCHESTER, Tenn. (WTVF) — One person was killed in a crash on Interstate 24 in Coffee County.

The two-vehicle crash happened near Exit 111 on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a pickup truck drove off the side of the roadway and rear-ended an improperly parked semi truck on the shoulder. The pickup truck then got stuck underneath the back of the semi.

Ralph Reed, 50, who was driving the pickup truck, was killed. THP said he was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the semi was not injured.
