THP Major Resigns After Arrest, Internal Investigation

Posted

Tennessee Highway Patrol Major Stacy Williams resigned amid arrest and internal investigation.

THP and Tennessee Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security officials announced his resignation Friday.

Williams was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, public intoxication, resisting arrest and reckless endangerment after an altercation with his neighbors.

Williams was said to have resigned in lieu of termination following the internal investigation into department policy violations.

The 47-year-old was placed discretionary leave with pay on February 13, the same day the department opened an investigation into reported policy violations. All departmental equipment including weapons, badges, and commission card were secured at that time.

The investigation revealed that Williams’ actions constituted conduct unbecoming for a department employee.

Williams has been a Tennessee state trooper since 1994.  He was named Major over the THP Special Investigations Bureau Nashville in 2014.
