MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WTVF) — Mt. Juliet Police officers arrested three people near the Providence area after a brief police chase and crash Wednesday afternoon.
Police Captain Tyler Chandler said the incident began when officers tried to stop a driver in a stolen vehicle.
The driver didn't stop and instead sped away, driving through a nearby Holiday Inn landscaping eventually crashing into a utility pole.
Police say the three occupants - a woman and two men - ran from the disabled vehicle. The woman and one of the men were quickly taken into custody, but the second man ran into a nearby wood line near the Kroger along Providence Parkway.
Officers found two guns in the vehicle. They quickly began an extensive search in the area for the man who was believed to be armed.
The man was found in a culvert near the wooded area and pond near the Kroger gas pumps. He was taken into custody and was not armed.
One of the men was wanted for shoplifting and the car was stolen out of Nashville.
Cpt. Chandler said the woman was taken to the hospital because she was injured in the crash. She was treated and released from the hospital. She and the two men were booked into the Wilson County Jail.
