NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Three families received new homes in North Nashville, courtesy of Habitat for Humanity. They are all first time homeowners too!

It was all smiles for Delaina Young and her four year old daughter as they walked into their new home for the first time. The single mom says its been a year long process.

"I have to attend classes on budget and home-ownership classes," said Young. " I got to help build my own home."

But the wait was well worth it, because now behind these walls, Young can give her daughter something you can't put a price on, precious memories.

The home was made possible through the organization Habitat for Humanity, volunteers and sponsors. All who came out to celebrate with these three families.

At the event Mayor David Briley also discussed some initiatives hes putting into place to make housing more affordable in Nashville.

One initiative is his "Under One Roof 2029" plan, where $500 million of the funding would come from the city.

"$750 million over 10 years to bring thousands of units into the pipeline that are affordable," said Mayor Briley, "that's critically important to me."
