ELIZABETH, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities said a mail truck struck a woman crossing a New Jersey street with two grandchildren, killing a toddler and injuring the others.
Elizabeth officials said the crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. Monday.
Witnesses said the grandmother was carrying the 2-year-old, who was tossed into the air by the impact. The girl was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later. The woman and a 4-year-old child were being treated at a hospital for undisclosed injuries.
The names of the woman and the two children were not released.
The accident remained under investigation.
