ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. (WTVF) — One sheriff is worried about an uptick in the number of bad crashes.

In a Facebook post Sunday night, the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office said it’s seeing far too many fatalities often involving young people.

Just this weekend, a car with six Cheatham County teenagers crashed just over the border into Robertson County.

The driver was charged with vehicular homicide. He’s accused of driving under the influence in the wreck, which killed his 19-year-old friend and injured the others.

Sheriff Mike Breedlove said traffic deaths involving 16 to 24-year-olds in the area are up nearly dozen compared to this same time last year. His message: slow down and do not drink and drive.
