LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. (WTVF) — An EF-1 tornado hit Lawrence County Wednesday night, causing severe damage to several buildings and homes.

National Weather Service officials surveyed the area Thursday and said straight line winds moved through the county and the embedded tornado hit downtown Lawrenceburg.

Wind speeds in Lawrenceburg were recorded at 95-100 mph. Those winds heavily damaged the Lawrenceburg Public Library.

An EF-0 tornado hit Bedford County Wednesday night as well. However, the damage was isolated to several downed trees and power lines.
