NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Two Swedish tourists were injured overnight in Nashville during a robbery and shooting.

The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Thursday as the 30-year-old men were walking on 4th Avenue near Chestnut Street.

Officials with Metro Nashville police said a red, four-door sedan approached them three times over the span of a few minutes.

They twice asked the victims if they wanted to buy marijuana and the men said they weren't interested. The third time, police said the passenger jumped out and demanded their belongings.

Even though both men complied, the gunman fired a shot into the pavement -- which ricocheted and hit both victims. One was hit in the arm, while the other was struck in the ankle.

Both injuries were minor but one of them was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.

There wasn't a specific description of the suspect. Anyone with information was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
