After some 30 years with the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, current president and CEO Kathleen O’Brien will retire in 2019.
O’Brien has led the organization for the past 13 years, becoming the first and only woman to do so in TPAC’s almost 38-year history. She first came to TPAC in 1988 as the public affairs director.
Under her leadership, TPAC said the organization saw expansive growth and transitioned to become an independent Broadway presenter.
During that time, they also added two signature arts education programs, including Disney Musicals in Schools and The Spotlight Awards, which was a collaboration with Lipscomb University to nurture the musical theatre talents of Tennessee high school students.
TPAC officials said she will retire at the end of the next fiscal year, July 2019.
