WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WTVF) — A tractor trailer hauling gasoline has overturned on the eastbound side of Interstate 40 in Wilson County early Friday morning.
The crash happened just before 3 a.m. near the 234 mile marker, and has caused the closure of the roadway in the area.
According to Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), the driver of the truck was injured in the crash and transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His injuries are not suspected to be life-threatening.
While the trailer is off the right side of the road, the interstate is narrow in the area because of construction. At the time of writing, traffic is being diverted off the interstate at mile marker 232. THP says the detour is taking Highway 109 south to I-840, and then taking that back to I-40.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation's Smartway map indicates this issue is now clear, and traffic should now return to normal.
