It was feared he may never walk again, but Tennessee State University athlete, Christion Abercrombie, persisted and he was cheered on as he walked into his alma mater.

The TSU football player suffered a severe head injury at a game this past September. He had life-saving surgery and underwent rehabilitation at the Shepherd Center near his family's home in Atlanta.

This week, Christion and his family were honored at Westlake High School in Georgia where he graduated. The students presented him with a plaque and declared it "Christion Abercrombie Day."

Christion begins outpatient therapy next week.
