Two arrested after Thanksgiving pursuit in La Vergne

RUTHERFORD CO., Tenn. (WTVF) — Two men were arrested after a police pursuit in La Vergne Thanksgiving night.

Carlos Ewin Jr., 22, and Jonathan Thompson, 21, are in custody facing various charges.

Police say they attempted to pull over a speeding white Nissan on Waldron Road around 6:30 pm Thursday. The car fled onto Old Nashville Highway. The Nissan hit another vehicle on Merritt Drive and later crashed into a ditch on Mason Road.

Ewin Jr., the driver, and Thompson ran away. An officer caught up with Ewin and tased him. Thompson was found nearby. Both were taken into custody.

Inspecting the crash scene today, officers found a handgun that was reported stolen out of Goodlettsville.

Ewin Jr. faces 11 charges, including evading arrest, drug possession/exchange, and reckless endangerment. He also has four warrants from Smyrna for failure to appear.

Thompson is charged with evading arrest.
