NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Police say a woman is facing a vehicular homicide charge after she hit two children with her car, killing one of them.

The crash happened at about 8 p.m. Sunday at the Overlook Ridge Apartments on Buena Vista Pike.

Metro Police say 9-year-old Chrishon Montgomery and 7-year-old Cayden Doctor were hit in the parking lot when 28-year-old Ebony Robinson backed out of a parking space at a "high rate of speed." Both children were crossing the rear of the parking lot when they were struck. Police say Montgomery was on a bike and Doctor walking near him.

Both were taken to area hospitals. Montgomery later died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Doctor suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say both boys and Robinson lived in separate apartments at the complex.

According to Robinson's arrest affidavit, an officer said he smelled alcohol on her breath. When the officer asked her if she'd been drinking, she reportedly said "Yeah, I've had a few." Later, she reversed course and said she'd only had "a sip."

The officer noted in the arrest report that there was a Styrofoam cup in the center console of her car that smelled like tequila.

Robinson also faces charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and driving without a license or proof of insurance. She was held on a $203,000 bond.
