KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The University of Tennessee, Knoxville reported its first on-campus case of COVID-19 Sunday night.

The state's flagship university said the Knox County Health Department confirmed a staff member had tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The employee was last on campus March 16, during UT's spring break. They are currently at home in self-isolation

College administrators are working with health officials to contact anyone the employee would have been in close contact with.

UT had already moved spring classes to an online format and required residential students to move out. They've urged all students to return home.
